Getting this app out to the community Empty Getting this app out to the community

Post by Link999123 Fri Feb 07, 2014 5:18 pm

I really like this app and all, but we don't have much promotion.
I was introduced to this app when I typed in "Nintendo" one day while searching on the Amazon app store. I didn't hear about this app or know what I would find, I was honestly looking for the Nintendo 64 emulator when I came across this app instead.
We as a community need to lead these forums and this app into popularity, this app has so much potential and that potential shall only be truly achieved when we as a forums, as a community, as a whole are the ones who can make this app great.
We need you to help spread the word as a hush, then as a war-cry (though not really) and help the community blossom.

Does anyone have any ideas how to better the community?

How about submitting it as a news tip to GoNintendo, Nintendo Life, etc. It can be justified as news because of the new redesign.

People could also feature the app in their Youtube videos, and share it on networking sites.

True. If I had a good number ofsubscribers on YouTube, I'd do it

Thanks guys. I appreciate that you want to help me advertise. The word will slowly get out, and things are getting better. I believe I first published the app in May (it was extremely primitive then) and by November I only had only 400 users across Google Play and Amazon (not counting people who uninstalled the app) By mid January I had about 700, and I think I have almost 1300 now. I get the tracking numbers from a few sources and they kind of give me conflicting info but it's around that. So things are getting better faster.

Maybe we could get one of the bigger youtube channels to do it, we could try getting The Game Theorists to sponsor.

What if we spread our word through some of the other forums, maybe we could even get Nintendo to support? (Highly unlikely, but it is worth a try.) And even then there are still the users of the app, maybe we could have them even possibly get some good word in about the app in their videos? Plus, Google plus.

It's not a problem, I've always wanted to help a community grow, and the app has so many features, it is the least I can do.

Did you ever notice how there are usually a few guests on the forums? We need a way to encourage them to join.

Maybe we could promote the app on a high-trafficking site.

If I used my youtube account as a channel I would definitely promote this app every video (annoying my suscribers in the process)

I have already asked The Game Theorists and NinBuzz if they could promote this app in one of their videos, hopefully we get a positive response of "Yes"

Lol, yes. I'm glad he wants to help and likes the app. For a long time I had no feedback from other users. Other than the spike of app usage on Thursdays I would have never known anybody cared about it. I'm not positive I'm ready for any big coverage though as I still have lots of work to do. I'm only sort of getting used to the slightly increased exposure I've had lately. Some people have said pretty mean things about my work and with more awareness, there will be even more mean things said.

Thank you, I'm trying to populate these forums, and promote the app I'm just speechless as to how few reviews and topics about this app there are on the internet.

I do really appreciate it. It is probably because it's kind of a niche thing. There are only so many Nintendo fans and of them only so many people are crazy about the eShop. Even among them not everybody cares about apps. Even if everyone who could possibly like eShop Companion downloaded my app I doubt I'd have more than 30,000 downloads (although that would still be amazing compared to the current number). I'm also not sure it's good enough to become super popular. I am a bit of a coding amueture and have no business skills. I've improved the app a lot since I started, but I can only do so much.

If we promoted the app and/or got more people to join who are interested in helping to develop the app then maybe they could help you and even promote which, in turn will generate more forums members.

Hey, I'm no expert either but if you need any help just let me know. I do know a few tings about forums as I have told you about in a previous thread elsewhere. You need a moderator or fellow admin I know a little HTML, I'm an expert at copying and pasting. LMAO

People could post about on their blogs or post on social networking sites. But that is all I can think of.

I made you an administrator if you want to take over the forums, along with Link. That would be a great start and we'll see what happens from there.

Yeah I've only seen a few regular users most of which are in this thread haha. It's cool that you guys are mods, should really help out when the forms become popular.

I think 75% of the forums total posts have happened in the last 2 days. Lol. Hopefully it'll get more popular now. Also if you want to be a mod or administrator you can too as you've been with the forums for a while. Of course being a mod won't help much at the moment, lol.

Yeah that'd be cool. You just chill and keep developing when you get a chance and we'll keep brainstorming marketing.
